Maybe after you submit your thesis, you’ll have tons of time for writing for NaNo.

Your technique of writing more than one story at a time intrigues me. When I get stumped, I switch scenes in my story, knowing that what happens in the new scene will help me figure out what should be happening on the one that’s stumping me. I kind of jump around all over the place in my story.

I’ll have to try your method though; sounds like fun!

Sounds like an excellent story! I would go with “catalyst”, but “crux” is good too-it just doesn’t flow as well.

don’t know baseball (if it is baseball) so i can’t join the banter about that nice blog though. I’m writing a couple of novellas, one that’s written and I’m posting in parts, and another which is in progress, with a constantly morphing title. Somewhat similar to your post on titles! Nice blog

I’m forever changing the title of what I write as things more suitable come to mind and as the story changes and develops in my mind and as I write and spend more time with it.

I think dialogue is the best bit of writing. You definitely picked up on the qualities good dialogue needs. It’s a real skill to be able to write dialogue with out a speech tag and for the reader to know who’s speaking. Dialogue is great for creating a situation for conflict, as it is two characters in direct contact. Dialogue IS ESSENTIAL. Thanks for posting.

Good work! Enjoyed it. The only thing that stood out to me was an instance in which 2 different characters use the same colloquialism (I think that’s what it would be considered) “passing the blame around” which seems a little redundant and/or like they have the same “voice” (you), which I don’t believe to be your intention. Keep up the good work!
